Ando: ‘Break at right time for us’

-

ST JOHNSTONE returned to training today with central defender Steven Anderson feeling the winter break came at the right time for the team.

He said: “We were doing OK with a win at Rangers and draws at home against Hearts and away to Ross County then came the home loss against Dundee.

“It was disappointing to go into the break on the back of a defeat and just after we had gone three matches unbeaten.

“This season has been a bit up and down for us.

“We need to get a bit of consistency, we need to string together a good run of results.

“All the games are tough and we need to win more of them, including matches against sides who are around us in the league.

“We’ve had a great last few seasons and can make this another good one.

“We’re just two points off our points tally from this stage last year and have played a game less.

“We want to push the club f orward and know what we have to do.

“We are a squad of players who are very critical of ourselves.

“Our fans should be aware t he players and coaching staff are doing their best.

“The club don’t have as much as some others in the way of finance but there is a desire from everyone to push on, to do better.”

Saints are back in action a week on Saturday when they travel to Coatbridge to face League One outfit Albion Rovers in the Scottish Cup.

Saints have sold out their allocation for the all-ticket game.

With season ticket holders having had exclusive access for a week and following the general sale, the limited number of tickets the club had have now gone.
