Rotisserie on fire at Asda store

-

A FIRE at a supermarket’s hot counter prompted an emergency response by firefighters.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received a call to attend at the Asda store at Milton of Craigie last night after a report that the store’s rotisserie oven had caught fire.

Two appliances arrived from the nearby Kingsway fire station following the call at 10.42pm.

However, staff had been able to extinguish the fire before crews were on site.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called out at 10.42pm following reports of a small fire at the Asda store in Mid Craigie.

“However, the fire was extinguished before our arrival, and crews were returned to Kingsway by 11.19pm.”

The extent of the damage caused by the fire was unknown.

Asda was approached for comment, but representatives for the company had not responded to requests as the Tele went to press today.
