Campaign fund tops £11k
THE Save a Life Montrose campaign has swelled its coffers to more than £11,000.
A drive was launched to fund heartstart equipment amid fears Montrose was lagging behind other Angus burghs in terms of 24-hour automated external defibrillator (AED) access.
The initiative is being led by a small team working on behalf of the town’s Inner Wheel and Rotary clubs, which smashed its initial £3,000 target before setting its sights on additional locations for the devices.
Basin City Bootstompers, a group of line dancers who meet at Montrose Caledonian Golf, made the most recent donation to the campaign.
Spokeswoman Susan Coull said: “The fund now stands at more than £11,000 after just four months of fundraising and we are in the process of ordering five defibrillators.”
