Names for footballers in school team

-

THE picture in the Dundonian looks like the Lawside U/14 team from 1967.

The team won the league and cup and went on to win the Scottish Cup the following year.

Managed by Joe Hart, the back row is me, Frankie Campbell, Mike Kolacz, Dec Mousley, Larry Blyth and Davy Brogan.

Middle row: Martin Lindsay, Joe Gourlay, Joe Forbes and Allan McKenzie.

Front row: Davy Henderson, Joe Tront, Ged Toshney, George Forbes and Davy Alexander.

No longer with us are Dec Mousley, Joe Gourlay and Joe Tront.

Larry Blyth and Allan McKenzie are in New Zealand. Davy Brogan and George Forbes are in Australia, as was Joe Tront.

Most of us are retired now, Davy Henderson lives in Worcester, Ged Toshney was in Kilmarnock and Davy Alexander is in far flung Carnoustie. Of the Dundee guys, I worked in Michelin, Mike Kolacz was with BT and Joe Forbes was a taxi driver. Martin Lindsay worked with DC Thomson.

Fratrie Camubell.

READER Ricky Gierelo was also in touch with the same names, though some of the first names were variants and he thought it was taken in 1968. He said the names were supplied by Mike Kolacz who was in his class at school.
