Csaba looking for repeat of earlier Pars performance

- By TOM DUTHIE

IF Csaba Laszlo needs a good thought heading to Dunfermline tomorrow it’s that last time the teams met Dundee United produced one of their best performances under him.

The down side of that is even then the Pars put up a spirited performance and kept the game close.

At the beginning of last month Csaba masterminded a 2-1 success when the pair clashed at Tannadice.

United had to stave off a later fightback that day, but Csaba felt the quality of his team’s football was excellent.

This week, with everyone at the club still hurting from last weekend’s 6-1 drubbing at Falkirk, the recollection of that day has been one of the few bright spots.

Csaba said: “According to my time here, my opinion is that we played our best games against Livingston and Dunfermline at Tannadice.

“These were good football games, but I ask why we haven’t done that against Falkirk in the last game?

“Here at Tannadice we were 2-0 in front, but we allowed Dunfermline to come back with a goal and they really tried to play aggressive football. They will try to do the same at their home pitch and we must try to play as we did.”

United will bring back Mark Durnan in central defence tomorrow, but although he is making progress as he recovers from a hip injury, full-back Stewart Murdoch is unlikely to return.

“He can be fit, but he cannot be match fit because he has now been out for a month,” explained Csaba.

Yesterday saw United take a look at young French trialist Logan Martin as their U/20s fought back from two goals down to beat Celtic in a re-arranged Development League fixture.

Along with 18-year-old fellow-countryman Idris Kadded, the 20-year-old former Benfica and Genoa youth player has been training with United for the past few days.

If they impress both could be fixed up on deals, possibly to the end of the season.

And efforts to add experience to an injuryhit first-team squad are still ongoing.

Dane Emil Lyng has already been added to the attackers, but it remains likely if more signings come another striker will be among them.
