Naysmith sorry to lose loan duo

-

QUEEN of the South team boss Gary Naysmith has admitted defeat in his bid to keep central defender Jason Kerr and forward Chris Kane at the club.

The pair have been on loan from St Johnstone since the start of the season and Queens were keen to extend the loans.

However, Saints have recalled the duo and their game away to Inverness Caley Thistle tomorrow will be their last for the Palmerston Park outfit.

“I am very disappointed to lose both players but feel we have done a good job in helping with their development ,” said Naysmith who also had Kerr on loan at East Fife when he was team boss there.

“Jason has been extremely consistent at the heart of our defence and has proved he is as good as anyone in the Championship in his position.

“St Johnstone have rewarded him with a new deal, which shows how highly they rate him.

“In the last two months, Chris has shown just why we brought him here.

“His energy, pace and work rate are appreciated by everyone at Queens and he has started scoring goals on a regular basis, six in his last seven games.

“Everyone at Queen of the South wishes these lads well in their futures.

“I’m thankful to both of them for what they have contributed to our season.”

Keith Watson could well join Kerr and Kane i n returning to Saints.

He has been on loan at Hartlepool United and, although his time there has been interrupted by injury, he netted both their goals in their recent 2-2 home divide against Gateshead.

However, Hartlepool are in a financial crisis and may have to let Watson go, so it looks like he will be heading back to the McDiarmid Park club.
