keep going until 34 weeks when we were booked in to be induced.

“My first pregnancy with my son Ruairaidh went perfectly. We had just two scans and he was eight days late. It was just totally normal compared to this pregnancy.

“It was a really stressful and scary experience. The not knowing what was going to happen with our baby was so hard.

“One minute we were fine and the next we would be in floods of tears, our emotions were up and down constantly.

“We didn’t buy many baby clothes because we didn’t know if he was going to make it.”

After a five-hour labour, Harrison arrived weighing 5lbs 12oz.

But he wasn’t breathing and was rushed to the neonatal unit where he was ventilated and given two blood transfusions.

Dad Cammy Cameron, 26, said: “It was horrible seeing your baby just lying in the incubator all wired up, but each day we could see improvements in him.

“Before Harrison was given his first blood transfusion we were told that if there was no improvements he would have to be rushed to Glasgow to receive a heart and lung bypass but luckily that did not need to happen.”

Harrison spent a total of 19 days in hospital before coming home to Laurie, Cammy and brother Ruairaidh, 4, on Christmas Eve.

Today, he weighs a healthy 7lbs 6oz.

Cammy said: “It was the best Christmas present ever.

“He is totally worth everything we went through, he is amazing.”

The proud parents are now organising a race night to raise funds for the neonatal unit at Ninewells.

Cammy added: “We just really want to say thank you to all the doctors and nurses in the unit for saving Harrison.

“We were told he was the sickest baby in the unit but he survived.

“We have already received more than 60 gift vouchers which have been donated from local businesses which is amazing.

“Dundee United have supplied two signed tops and tickets to a match. We never expected to receive so much support.

“We want to say a massive thank you to everyone.”

The race night will be held on March 30 at Lochee’s Dee Club.
