Singing scheme invitation

PEOPLE with multiple sclerosis (MS) living in Dundee and the surroundin­g area are being encouraged to take part in an upcoming singing programme.

The scheme, set up by Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust (THAT) and the MS Society Dundee Group, star ts on Wednesday February 7 and consists of eight social singing sessions.

They’ll be held weekly on Wednesdays from 2.30pm-4.30pm in The Wighton Heritage Centre, i n t he Central Library i n the Wellgate Centre.

Singing coach and musician Alice Marra will lead the programme and will encourage participan­ts t o explore t heir vocal ability through a range of warm-up techniques and a variety of songs.

No previous experience of singing is necessary to take part.

The programme promotes t he t herapeutic value of arts-based programmes to enhance quality of life, to promote social i nclusion and to empower the individual to make an important contributi­on to their health and wellbeing.

Scotland has one of the highest rates of MS in the world, with more t han 11,000 people in the country with the disease.

Tayside has one of the highest rates of MS of any health board in the country.
