‘Service is great where I am at the moment’
PATIENTS at several surgeries have given their views on the city’s GP crisis.
Jamie Smith is registered with the Ryehill Medical Practice in the West End.The 41-year-old said: “It’s great where I am at the moment — I’ve never had any problems.
“I wouldn’t say getting an appointment is different to anywhere else.
“They always tell you to phone at 8am. I don’t think that’s different to other surgeries.
“It’s the first I’ve heard of anywhere limiting patients and I can understand why it might affect people. One of my friends could move here and ask for a recommendation and they may not be able to register there.
“As far as I’m concerned though, I haven’t encountered any difficulties.”
Ella Duffy, 83, from Fintry, said: “I’m at the Terra Nova Practice.
“I do think the fact they’re not accepting new patients could be a problem.
“Anything could happen and you may have to move. It’s too difficult to get an appointment now.
“It used to be that you got a number, you sat down and it wasn’t any problem. Now you’ve got to phone before 8am, despite the fact there may not be anybody there.”
Peter Rooney, 63, from Craigie, said: “I recently moved from Downfield to the Mill Practice and my wife and I haven’t had any problems at either of them.
“The only reason I moved i s because my old surgery was a bit out of the way.
“I can see why some people may be concerned about it, but from a personal point of view, I can only judge it from my experience.” Jamie Smith
