Shock as Dee fan dies

Man suffers heart attack while watching Dundee

A SUPPORTER has died after suffering a suspected heart attack while watching Dundee FC at Dens Park.

The man is said to have taken unwell in the final stages of the match against Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday.

Fans at the match told of seeing the man take ill while he was in the Bobby Cox stand.

Attending paramedics rushed the man, who is understood to have had a heart attack, to Ninewells Hospital, where he died.

One onlooker said that he had realised the severity of the situation after seeing the response of officials and medics.

He said: “You could see there was something seriously wrong by the way the medical people and stewards were acting.

“They were on the scene really quickly and were doing everything they could.

“It’s really sad to hear the man has died.”

A spokeswoma­n for the Scottish Ambulance Service today confirmed that a crew had transporte­d the man to Ninewells Hospital.

She said: “We received a call at 4.49pm on Saturday and attended an incident at Dens Park.

“We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and a man in his sixties was transporte­d to Ninewells.”

A spokesman for Dundee FC declined to comment when approached by the Tele today.

He added a statement would be released in the near future.

Fans took to social media in the aftermath of the incident.

The Dark Blues fan site tweeted: “Our thoughts go out to the gentleman who was attended to by the medical staff and NHS today at the game.”

Gair Anderson tweeted: “Terrible news about the Dundee fan who took ill at Dens yesterday.

“Thoughts to his family.” friends and
