McMillan is hoping to be involved in cup game

-

NEW St Johnstone front man David McMillan is hoping to be involved when Saints take on Albion Rovers in the Scottish Cup at Cliftonhill tomorrow night.

The striker has come in from League of Ireland outfit Dundalk and is keen to show the Saints fans what he can do.

Rovers are two leagues below Saints but David, a cup winner in Ireland, feels it will be “a tough tie”.

The 28-year-old, who has signed a two-and-a-half year contract, said: “We will have to be very professional and I’m sure we will be. I’m certainly looking forward to the game.”

David brings a degree of experience, and goals, with him to McDiarmid Park.

After a successful spell with University College Dublin, the qualified architect switched to Dundalk helping them win the Irish Cup as well as three league titles. He also helped them get to the group stages of the Europa League, scoring there and in the Champions League.

“I’m thrilled to be at Saints and am getting to know the rest of the squad. Training has been good,” he added.

David went on: “Manager Tommy Wright sold the club to me and told me how ambitious they are.

“He’s told me what he expects from me.

“I’m hungry to get started and will work hard on and off the ball.

“I scored goals at University College Dublin and Dundalk and hope I can bring goals to Saints.

“I was aware of the club before I knew of their interest as I watched Scottish games on the TV.

“Saints have done well being regular top-six finishers, winning the Scottish Cup and playing in the Europa League.”
