Music fans get ready to Rewind back to ’80s
IT’S the time of the year again that all lycra-loving pop fans of the 1980s eagerly look forward to — the announcement of the line-up for the Rewind Festival.
And organisers have not disappointed — with icons including Midge Ure, The Boomtown Rats and Status Quo among the headline acts for the festival’s 10th anniversary.
As well as hearing some of the biggest hits from three decades ago, there will also be the familiar sight of thousands of ’80s music fans donning suitably wacky accessories and neon outfits.
The weekend will kick off on the Friday with Forever Stage, Hipsway and Magic Nostalgic taking to the stage.
As always, the Saturday promises to attract thousands of pop fans from near and far to Scone.
They will be rewarded with some seriously big names performing live.
The main stage will see OMD, Gipsy Kings, Martha Wash, Odyssey, Roland Gift, Tiffany, Kim Appleby, Howard Jones, Peter Hook & The Light, Roachford and The Skids. Then, on the Sunday, the main stage will feature Status Quo, Bonnie Tyler, The Boomtown Rats, Midge Ure, Heaven 17, Imagination and Hue and Cry.
A spokesman for the festival said: “To celebrate Rewind’s 10th anniversary, this year’s festival will feature more acts and vibrant entertainment than ever before, across three days.
“Legendary acts confirmed to perform include OMD, Status Quo, Bonnie Tyler, Midge Ure and Heaven 17.”
Rew ind Scotland will be at its usual venue at Scone Palace in Perthshire from July 20 -22. As always, it’s not just the fans who can’t wait for the weekend to come along. Superstar Francis Rossi, of Status Quo, said: “The band are big fans of the Rewind festivals. There’s always a great atmosphere and a welcoming crowd. “We can’t wait to take to the stage at Rewind Scotland and play some of everyone’s favourite Quo classics.” Howard Jones said: “I always look forward to playing the Rewind festivals. “I’ve seen so many brilliant performances over the years and I look forward to many more this year.” ryhryeryre6yery
