Fitness burn

-

We began some leg and bum exercises while still on our feet.

While balancing on one leg and moving around in a circle might sound simple, you could really feel the burn in your thigh and bum.

That was added to when we started with some squats.

Although it was sore, the music and Lauri’s enthusiastic chat and encouragement really helped.

We next got down on the floor and started some moves focusing on legs and abdominal muscles.

Lying on our backs we did different movements with our legs — including pretending to ride a bike. You could really feel this exercise working out your lower body and abs.

We also completed some “V” sits using our core muscles to keep us sat upright with our legs in the air.

We continued with a number of exercises for our abs before completing a cool-down stretch, which is just as important as your warm-up and stops you from feeling too sore.

The beauty of each of the exercises was how many ways you could alter each move to suit your fitness level.

You could tone it down to make it a bit easier, or if you weren’t feeling challenged enough you could make it harder.

It was great being in an environment with so much support from the group you were with.

There was no judgement if you chose to do the easier moves, everyone was working to their own level. Following my first class I was in pain. I could definitely feel the burn all over my body for the next few days but I felt great as I knew it was working. The second week I attended the class I felt much more confident and could already feel the difference in what I was able to do. I have thoroughly enjoyed my month of fitness with Leisure and Culture Dundee and can definitely see myself continuing to attend the classes and gym. I think this will definitely be my new hobby.
