Big Brother is watching, and so am I!

-

I’VE been really enjoying this series of Celebrity Big Brother.

I much prefer it when there are no divas and you feel you are getting an inkling of what the people are actually like rather than a showface they are putting on for you.

I’ve been surprised by the tolerance all the housemates have for Ann Widdecombe (pictured).

I find her rolling eyes and they way she dictates the conversation a little wearing, although it is nice to see the others being respectful of her views even when she rudely shoots down their opinions.

One of those she has clashed with is my favourite, Shane J, whose alter-ego is Courtney Act. He and Ann have debated, among other subjects, same sex marriage.

Ann is strongly opposed and yet Shane takes the time to listen to her views and explain his viewpoint.

I’d never heard of Shane before the show but have found him to be balanced, fair, nonjudgmental, educational and tolerant of some of his fellow housemates’ less than liberated views. I really hope he wins.

I was also impressed with Rachel Johnson (Boris’s sister) and am disappointed that she and former policewoman Maggie Oliver were voted off the show.

As the show was hailed as celebrating the year of the woman and only women were housemates for the first week, it is interesting that when the public vote opened women were the first to be evicted.

John Barnes was the first man to leave the house, not via public vote but as a result of inhouse games and decisions. Ginuwine has been booted out by the public and I can’t say I’m sad to see him go.

Corrie and Carry-On favourite Amanda Barrie is in there too and at 82 years old, she is doing a fine turn for herself. I love her obvious friendship and deep feeling for dancer Wayne Sleep. She is amazing for her age.

I’m not sure when the show ends, but I will miss it when it does.

Square eyes.
