Dancer Lily’s luxury travel to Gleneagles
A LITTLE girl battling bone cancer enjoyed a stay at the five-star Gleneagles Hotel — arriving with her family in a fleet of luxury cars.
Lily Douglas, 10, was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma last year.
The award-winning dancer has vowed to continue training despite her illness, and performed with the rest of the troupe from the JGN Dance Attic at the Christmas lights switch-on at Perth’s Craigie Cross — despite recently having had surgery.
Lily’s fellow dance pupils organised the Gleneagles stay through a £250 gift voucher.
She arrived in style with her mum Jane and gran Mary.
The trio were taken to the hotel in three luxury cars, courtesy of Kenny McLeod, from Dundee.
Kenny arranged for Lily, Jane and Mary to be picked up at the home Lily shares with her family in Perth’s North Muirton housing estate in three classic cars.
Lily travelled in a Ferrari 488, Jane in a McLaren 570s and Mary in an Audi R8.
They were ferried the 16 miles to Gleneagles for their 24 hours of luxury-living at one of the world’s most famous hotels.
Her room was then upgraded to a luxury suite by the hotel, which also gave Lily gifts such as slippers, a bracelet, a bathrobe and teddy bears.
Lily’s family found out about her condition in April last year when doctors explained that Lily had a tumour in her shoulder and both lungs.
It wasn’t the first time that Kenny has helped Lily.
More than £4,000 was collected at a fundraising event when Kenny put a Grand Prix experience at Monaco up for grabs. The experience included travel to and from the event, a stay at a top class hotel and various other trimmings. Jane said: “Kenny has been very supportive and we are extremely grateful to him. “We had a wonderful trip to Gleneagles and had a wonderful time. Lily was thrilled — we all were.” She added: “Lily will soon be starting round 12 of her chemotherapy. “She has been coming on well since being diagnosed.”
