Mikkelsen injury concern for Utd
DUNDEE United could be without loan signing Thomas Mikkelsen when Morton visit Tannadice tomorrow.
The Dane’s second spell in tangerine got under way in the Scottish Cup tie at Alloa last weekend and saw him suffer a first half knee knock.
He did manage to complete 79 minutes of the tie and, initially, United were confident he would be OK for the resumption of league duties.
The problem, though, has prevented him training properly this week and it’s understood he i s now a major doubt.
If he does fail to make it, fellow-countryman Emil Lyng is likely to move in to the middle of the attack after operating on the wing against the Wasps.
W i t h Pa u l M c M u l l a n suspended for this one, Sam Stanton could move out wide to fill that gap.
Manager Csaba Laszlo was already leaning toward moving skipper Willo Flood back into the centre of the pitch after his spell deputising at right-back, while Stewart Murdoch was out injured
Having been back in full training for a couple of weeks now and getting the last 15 minutes or so of the Alloa game, Murdoch is fit enough to be considered for a return to the starting line-up.
“Murdoch is completely back, he can start. He has worked on his fitness for more than one week,” confirmed Csaba.
Jordie Briels, meanwhile, has suffered a setback as he battles for fitness after a hip problem.
The midfielder had been stepping up his training after returning from having treatment back home i n Holland but has been feeling it again.
“It’s a little bit better but he is feeling it, so we must be careful.”
