The goals will vows forward

- BY GEORGE CRAN

FAISSAL El Bakhtaoui is certain “the goals will come” for Dundee in the second half of the season — starting tomorrow at Hamilton.

With just one point separating the sides before the weekend clash at the SuperSeal Stadium, the FrenchMoroccan admits the game is “massive” for the Dark Blues.

Following the 1-0 defeat to Hibs on Wednesday night, Dundee sit in 10th spot j ust t wo points above t he relegation play-off place.

Their recent record against Accies doesn’t make good reading either, with just the one win in the last eight meetings of the sides.

In fact, since that 1-0 win in October, 2016, Hamilton have won the last four, scoring 12 goals in the process.

And El Bakhtaoui reckons the Dark Blues owe themselves a performance against Martin Canning’s men — and with that, all three points.

The Dee striker said: “It’s a massive game for us tomorrow against Hamilton.

“We will need to work hard over there and need to try to get the three points.

“Hamilton is a hard place to play, they have some good players as well.

“The pitch is not the best but we’ve played there and know what it’s like, so we just need to stay concentrated.

“I was on the bench, I think, for the last game at Dens Park but I started the game at Hamilton earlier in the season.

“They have good players and they are physical in defence, some big boys, so we’ll have to work hard.

“It’s been a long time not to get three points against them and the manager has said it’s a massive game tomorrow. We need to go there and come back with the three points.”

That need comes after the disappointment of the 1-0 defeat to Hibs on Wednesday at Dens Park.

John McGinn’s 52nd-minute strike was enough to split the teams but not before Dundee had created, and then passed up, a number of decent chances themselves.

El Bakhtaoui himself had a few opportunities, particularly in the first half, but he says as long as they continue to get themselves into positions, the goals will come.

He said: “We have good players, we know that, we just need to take time and the chances will come for us.

“That’s what it is, we make chances but we need to start getting goals as well.
