Tanser looks set for extended run

-

ST JOHNSTONE are at home to Partick tomorrow in what will be their first game of the new year.

The Perth men’s Scottish Cup date against Albion Rovers has been put off twice by t h e w e a t h e r, leading t o t hem being inactive since f ootball resumed after the Premiership’s winter break.

Richard Foster, Paul Paton and Murray Davidson are suspended and Brian Easton has had surgery on a double hernia.

His absence could mean a prolonged spell in the first team for Scott Tanser.

With Easton missing a large chunk of the season due to a knee problem and now his hernia situation, Tanser has been able to fill in at left-back.

And his showings have pleased team boss Tommy Wright.

He commented: “Scott has more or less been a regular. He has done well.”

David McMillan, signed during the winter transfer window from Dundalk, will also be in the Saints squad tomorrow.

Meanwhile, St Johnstone have taken former Ross County winger Jonathan Franks on trial.

The Englishman is presently with Vanarama National League side Hartlepool where he was a team-mate of Keith Watson, who was on loan to the club from Saints.

Franks is one of Hartlepool’s top performers but they are in the midst of a cash crisis.

St Johnstone have loaned keeper Ben McKenzie t o East Fife. Goalie Mark Hurst, who was on loan at East Fife, is now back at McDiarmid Park.
