ARCHIBALD UNLIKELY TO MAKE ADDITIONS

-

ALAN Archibald admits he will not be adding to his Partick Thistle ranks before We d n e s d ay ’s transfer deadline — because his squad is already too big.

The Jags have only made one new signing this month after landing Bournemouth defender Baily Cargill on loan until the end of the season.

But that was only sparked because Coventry recalled Jordan Turnbull before selling him on to Northampton.

Archibald has, however, welcomed James Penrice back from a loan stint with Livingston, while injury victims Callum Booth, Mustapha Dumbuya and Abdul Osman have all returned to action since the winter break.

And with his nightmare casualty list finally starting to reduce, the Maryhill boss hopes he will have enough to see Thistle through to the end of the season.

“We’ve no plans to make any other signings at the minute,” he said.

“If the four guys who have rejoined the squad stay fit then we will probably be looking at having too many players.

“That’s a good problem to have and if it stays like that then we won’t have to go back into the market and get anybody.

“It’s a bit different this year as there’s not much between the sides at the bottom.

“Usually there is a side struggling and have t o throw money at the problem to try and catch up.

“But it’s still tight at the moment so there’s no need to overhaul your squad.”
