Man ‘sexually assaulted cop’

-

A MAN has been accused of sexually assaulting a police officer in a city pub.

Craig Morrell, 47, of Camperdown Road, denies sexually assaulting the female constable on June 29 last year at the Downfield Hotel, also known as Doc Stewart’s, in Strathmartine Road in Kirkton.

Morrell’s solicitor John Boyle told Dundee Sheriff Court his client was pleading not guilty and Sheriff Derek Reekie set his trial for May 10, with an intermediate diet on April 12.

Morrell was released on bail on condition that he doesn’t attempt to talk to the witness without a solicitor being present.

A MAN accused of bombarding his former partner with phone calls over a four-day period last week will face trial in April.

Gary Middleton, 37, of Chirnside Place, denies that between January 30 and February 2, at a house in Robertson Street, he engaged in a course of conduct which caused Lynne Robertson fear or alarm by making numerous unwanted telephone calls to her, attending at her home unannounced, making derogatory and abusive remarks towards her and attempting to contact her friends and family against her wishes.

Trial was set for April 24, with an intermediate diet on April 3.

Middleton was granted bail on the condition that he does not approach or contact Ms Robertson or enter Robertson Street until the conclusion of the trial.
