Plans for new road submitted
PLANS have been lodged for a new road and cycle path in a Dundee housing scheme.
DJ Laing Homes is seeking planning permission for the project in the city’s Aberlady Crescent.
The housing firm, along with Dunfermline-based Discovery Homes, has already lodged a bid for the construction of 25 three-bedroom houses at the site.
That forms the second phase of a masterplan for the area around Aberlady Crescent — close to the Berwick Drive main thoroughfare — which was unveiled early in 2015.
The plan was originally submitted to Dundee City Council later that year but was withdrawn for alterations to be made.
Construction on phase one of the masterplan is expected to start later this year.
New plans are now with planning chiefs to create a new road layout as well as relocating an existing cycle path.
A submission from DJ Laing said: “The overall development will be of a high quality, complementing the new housing stock in Dundee, and will assist in the continual improvements t o t he area of Whitfield.
“The site is located in the north-eastern section of Dundee, just south of the main trunk road Berwick Drive.
“Whitfield is benefiting from a major regeneration initiative, involving the creation of 900 new houses — 750 of which will be private — and a new school.”
