Officers in hunt for knifepoint robbery suspect

A SHOPKEEPER was robbed at knifepoint during a raid at a Dundee newsagent on Friday.

Police Scotland is appealing for informatio­n following the crime at Blackness News, Blackness Road, in the city’s West End.

At around 8.15pm on Friday February 9, a male entered the store, showed a knife to the shop assistant and stole a quantity of money from the till before running off.

The suspect was l ast seen running into Rosefield Place.

The force said the male had been witnessed standing at t he j unction of Blackness Road and Blackness Street for a “significan­t” period before committing the robbery.

The suspect is described as a black male, of slim build, 5ft 11in, aged between 25 and 30, and with facial hair. He was wearing a navy parka-style jacket with a fur-trimmed hood, black tracksuit bottoms, black training shoes and black gloves.

Detective Constable Andrew Howe said: “This was a very frightenin­g experience for the shopkeeper although he was not injured as a result of the male’s actions.

“I am appealing for anybody within the community who has any informatio­n about this crime, or knows the identity of the male, to contact the police straight away.”

The force is asking anybody who recognises the man, or saw him in the area before or after the crime, or who knows anything about the crime to get in touch as a matter of urgency.
