Business owners braced for week of road closures

closed — it always is. They always seem to be digging up a road somewhere around this area.

“Our customers come from all over Dundee so it will be a real issue to try to park outside the shop.

“We also get a lot of passing trade so we will see a loss in customers over that period. It will also cause havoc in the morning for commuters, especially with the closure being westbound.

“It will be very busy for them to commute in the morning.”

East End councillor Will Dawson said: “Roadworks happen from time to time and this is a particularly busy stretch of road. We want to make sure people are aware of the closure so they can plan ahead and perhaps use alternative routes.

“It’s a relatively short period of time so I’d just ask people to bear with us.”

A spokeswoman for Dundee City Council said: “These works will be carried out by the road maintenance partnership. Diversions will be signposted and we will try to keep disruption to a minimum.”

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the city Dudhope Terrace, at Inverlaw Place, will have temporary traffic lights in place from next Monday. The disruption is due to last for two weeks to allow for water mains renewal.

Princes Street, at Dens Street, will also have temporary traffic lights in operation from February 19. They are expected to be in place for one week to allow gas service connection work to be undertaken.
