Hopes dented all four points

-

sat out two minutes for tripping and just as the powerplay was ending, Adam Brace netted to level the game.

Just over one minute later it was 2-1 when Brendan Brooks scored his second goal of the weekend to put Braehead in front.

Five minutes into the final period it became 3-1 as Matt Haywood scored. Two minutes later the visitors appeared to put the game beyond Stars as Brooks scored his second of the night to give Clan a 4-1 advantage but just 50 seconds later, after Stars called a time-out, Carlson pulled a goal back for 4-2.

With six minutes left in the game, Hart scored his second of the night to make it 4-3 and set up an nerve-tingling finale for the fans. Despite home pressure, Clan held out for the win and a four-point weekend.

Coach Omar Pacha said after last night’s game: “It’s been a disappointing weekend as we had chances to take something from both games but some of the bounces just didn’t go our way.

“However, this is not the time to panic as there is still a lot of hockey left to be played and we still have it in our hands.

“We are five points behind Clan and still have to play them once more and we have three games in hand to them, so it’s all to play for. “We will regroup, prepare for the next games and, hopefully, get back to winning ways. We are still confident we can make the play-offs.”
