Drop-in with a snowdrop
BROUGHTY Ferry in Bloom will hold its annual “snowdrop-in” coffee morning to celebrate the spring flower.
The fundraising event, in aid of the group’s various activities, will take place on Saturday at Barnhill Community Centre in Campfield Square from 10am-noon.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a snowdrop from their own garden to add to a display.
There will be a guess the weight of the cake competition, a raffle and stalls with treats made by children from Balgillo Nurseries and t he St James Church Brownies and Rainbows.
Local ar tist Lindsey Harrow will also be selling prints of her snowdrop painting with proceeds going to the BFiB, while the original painting will be included as a prize in the raffle.
Ward councillors will also be in attendance as well as Dundee City Council communities officer, Natalie Mackland, who will be helping people to vote i n the Dundee Decides participatory budgeting.
BFiB themes for planting this year include red for remembrance of the First World War and green, purple and white for 100 years o f Wo m e n ’s Suffrage.
The group is also taking part i n the “Ribbon of Poppies” and will be handing out red poppy seeds t o anyone who wishes to grow some in their garden.
The cost is £3 and children go free.
