Care worker in sex assault allegations

- BY LINDSEY HAMILTON

Laurence Baltazar will face a Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) fitness to practice hearing later this month.

Baltazar, who was employed as a care assistant, allegedly committed the offences at a care home in the Blairgowrie area.

The alleged incidents — which reportedly happened on an unspecified date in December 2015 and February 2016 — include claims he attempted to kiss his colleague, known only as ZZ, pulled down her trousers and grabbed her face.

Following the alleged offences, Baltazar then reportedly told the woman to “keep our secret” and asked her to be “quiet”.

A report by the SSSC said: “On a date in December 2015, without the consent of your colleague ZZ, you attempted to kiss ZZ.”

The report added that Baltazar then said to his colleague, “‘I am sorry, I am sorry. Please keep our secret — I feel so guilty.”

A few months later, on a date in February, he then allegedly tried to kiss the same woman without her consent.

The report added that he tried to put his hands on her shoulders.

It continued: “You turned ZZ so that she was facing away from you and pulled down ZZ’s trousers and underwear.

“You then said to ZZ, ‘shush, shush, shush — you be quiet’, or words to that effect.”

On the same date, Baltazar also allegedly kissed her neck and unzipped her trousers.

The report added: “On hearing someone coming along the corridor, you said, ‘we’ll finish this later’.”

The alleged offences have been described in the SSSC report as being “sexually motivated”.

The report added: “If the allegations are proven, you will have failed to comply with sections of the SSSC code of practice for social service workers.”

The fitness to practice hearing will be held in the city’s Compass House on February 27 and 28 and March 1.

Baltazar is no longer a member of staff at the care home.

A CARE home worker has been accused of sexually assaulting a female colleague — and allegedly telling her to keep the offences a “secret”.
