‘No surprise’ at draw — Tommy

-

ST JOHNSTONE team boss Tommy Wright felt his side were worthy of their point against Celtic at Parkhead.

The Perth men drew against the Hoops at Parkhead for the second time this season, following on from a 1-1 divide.

“For the last 20-25 minutes of the first half I thought we were the better team,” said Tommy.

“At times in the game, we had good opportunities on the break and it was a fine, solid performance.

“That’s twice this season we have put in truly unbelievable showings here.

“Celtic may have changed their team around following their European fixture against Zenit St Petersburg but they still had a side with so much talent.

“Hard work played a big part in our draw.

“It’s always t ough at Parkhead but again we caused them problems.

“This performance by us is no surprise to me.

“I knew the players were capable of putting on a show like this.

“Now it is up to us to build on this result, starting with Ross County at home on Saturday.

“The display against Celtic was more like us and it will give us a great deal of encouragement.”

Saints have had some decent results on the road this season.

As well as the two draws against Celtic, they have won at the likes of Hamilton, Hibs, Kilmarnock and Rangers.

Richard Foster was injured against Celtic and may miss out against Ross County.

Brian Easton may also not recover from injury in time and Callum Hendry and Stefan Scougall are out. However, Liam Craig is fit again and came on as a late sub against Celtic and David McMillan may be OK.
