Mixed views over heart dissection

-

I WAS absolutely disgusted to read in the Tele about a mortuary technician being allowed to perform a “live” dissection of an animal’s heart.

I will be writing to my MP, Chris Law, to question the funding of this “show” that was held in the Malmaison. What sort of animal was it? Remember, we are animals, and I doubt if this will tell us much about the human heart.

The event was a fundraiser for the British Heart Foundation, so to them I say, you’ll never get another penny from me.

Actually, I stopped supporting them years ago, because they employ a firm to ring people up and get them to increase their already generous donations.

Shame, too, on the Malmaison for allowing this. I will never visit.

Valentine’s day is meant to be about love. Most sane people love animals and would not hurt them.

This would seem to me to be no more than a stunt to get people into a venue, so that the owner can make more money and the technician can make a name for herself.

You don’t need to cut up an animal to learn about them.

NOT being a hearts and flowers type of girl, I was intrigued to read about the charity- boosting Valentine’s Day event in Malmaison where members of the public attended a dissection of an animal’s heart conducted by a mortuary technician from Dundee University.

What a quirky idea. And a great way to learn more about the organ that keeps us alive.

The money raised was going to the British Heart Foundation which funds research into cardiovascular disease. What an apt way to do this and educate at the same time.

WHERE is the romance in seeing an animal’s heart dissected?

Valentine’s Day tends to go a wee bit overboard on hearts — but they are more usually of the artistic version than the ones with tubes attached!

Call me old fashioned, but that’s just the way I like it.

Preferably a heart-shaped box filled with chocolates . . .
