A NUMBER of Dundee’s best bands and musicians have been announced for a special gig aiming to tackle homelessness.

Discovery Music and Good Times Music Studios, both based in the city, are running the event on May 19 at Church on Ward Road.

The gig is part of a UK-wide initiative by Musicians Against Homelessness (MAH), an organisations created by music mogul Alan McGee.

The line-up consists of five acts from around the city and Glasgow band The Rain Experiment.

Acoustic musician Ryan Horne, 21, from Lochee, began playing solo last year following a stint as a bass player for another band.

Lonely Lost Boy is the stage name of Gordon Hennessy, originally from Menzieshill and latterly from Downfield.

Lonely Lost Boy has supported the likes of Gerry Cinnamon, Billy Mitchell and local legends The View.

Also added to the bill is new band from the city, Novella.

Two local legends have also been announced for the special gig, Nick Shane and indie rock band Carousel.

A veteran of Dundee’s music scene, Shane said he was excited to take part in the event.

He added: “I think the gig is absolutely brilliant.

“There is a massive problem with homelessness in Dundee and the way the homeless are treated in the city sometimes is disgusting.

“One thing I want to do for Dundee is improve the lives of the homeless
