Kerr is well aware Saturday’s success was just one result but questions were levelled at the Dark Blues after that disaster at Kilmarnock and the 2-1 victory was just what was needed at Dens Park ahead of another big game at home to Motherwell this Saturday.

“That happens all the time. As soon as there is a negative result or performanc­e people jump on the bandwagon and everything is negative,” said Kerr.

“The personalit­y to get back up for the game on Saturday, even to go 1-0 down, which knocks the stuffing out of you, we just kept going and, slowly but surely, we got ourselves in the game.

“We were the better team in the second half by a mile and we got the reward.

“It’s important we get our heads down again.

“We know what Motherwell will bring this Saturday. They are a physical side and have threats but we need to work on the things we have been doing and last Saturday will give us a positive feeling going into it.

“It’s always tough in this league and in every game you don’t know what is going to happen.

“I’m delighted for the boys and for the gaffer to win at the weekend because it’s been a tough few weeks not getting the results and to get that three points on Saturday, you cannae beat it!”
