Dryburgh in great festival form

-

DRYBURGH Girls had a fantastic afternoon of football at their festival.

Their U/11s continued to impress with a great display against Arbroath CSC.

The U/12s had a tough match versus the older, more experienced, Letham 13s side but the girls will have learnt a lot with Letham impressing.

Dryburgh U/13s had a cracking match against Hibs U/13s with the Hibees winning 6-4.

It was a great end-toend game.

The U/15s competed well against Raith for most of their match with the Fifers running out 4-0 winners.

Dryburgh 17s finished off the festival with a fine 4-0 win against Aberdeen’s Westdyke 17s. Lauren McCabe, Katie Shaw and Neve Guthrie (2) were their scorers.

All the Dryburgh teams played some good passing football creating numerous scoring chances.

It was a fantastic advertisement for girls football.

Meanwhile, Dryburgh Athletic Ladies kicked off their Scottish Women’s Football league season in style with an impressive 8-0 away victory against Lothian Ladies.

As the score suggests, Dryburgh put in a great performance with Steffi Simson (2), Hope Allan (2), Erin Ross, Keira Flynn, Laura Boag and Alana Ramage scoring.

Dryburgh Ladies team boss Andrew Melville commented: “The girls were excellent.

“They gave great individual performances as well as a brilliant overall team show.

“We asked for a good start which is certainly what we got.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better start in our first competitive game.”
