Saint George is keen to prosper

-

HAVING had his first taste of t op-team action l ast Sunday when he played in the 0-0 away divide against Celtic, St Johnstone’s on-loan winger George Williams is looking forward to his home debut this Saturday when Ross County call in at McDiarmid Park.

“We said in the changingroom after the Celtic game that if we play like that in the rest of our games we will be OK.

“I am looking forward to the Ross County game and trusting we do well again,” said the seven-times capped Welsh international winger.

Williams’ arrival at Saints in the January transfer window was delayed due to him suffering an ankle injury while playing for parent club Fulham in an U/23 match.

He has now recovered and got around an hour of the Celtic match.

“I did an awful lot of running during that game and felt pretty sore afterwards but I’m feeling fine now,” he added.

“The Celtic match was a tough, but enjoyable, one. We knew it would be hard but we dug in.

“We were happy with our point and it was a good debut for me.

“Now I am l ooking to build on l ast Sunday’s result and so are the team.”

Saints are minus t he injured Richard Foster and Stefan Scougall.

Although Foster is likely to recover from his hamstring injury quickly, Scougall’s ankle i njury, which required surgery, is set to keep him out for the rest of the season.

Brian Easton, Aaron Comrie or Scott Tanser will replace Foster.

The Ross County fixture is the first of three home games on the bounce for Saints, followed by Rangers on Tuesday and Hamilton a week on Saturday.
