Facing Stars to end losses

-

They will be presented with the Gardiner Conference Trophy.

Following the Panthers’ game, Flyers travel to Sheffield to face Steelers where they will be looking to bag both points as they aim for their highest league finish since they joined the Elite League.

DUNDEE Tigers round off their Scottish National League season this Sunday as reigning champions Paisley Pirates visit Dundee Ice Arena (7.30pm).

A season of inconsistent performances has seen Tigers languishing in the lower half of the table, whereas the visitors are still in the hunt for back-to-back league titles. Both enter Sunday’s match desperate for victory.

Tigers’ Ian Carstairs said: “This is our last league fixture and we want to make sure we put in a strong performance in front of our home crowd.

“While we’ve played good hockey at times, we’ve not had enough consistency to mount any sort of charge up the table.

“Our position and that of Pirates is different.

“We are guaranteed eighth place in the league and a place in the post-season play-offs but there’s not any realistic prospect of us moving up the table.

“Pirates sit two points behind the leaders but with a game in hand so need to win this weekend to keep in touch.

“This makes Pirates dangerous as they will undoubtedly be aggressive in their attempts to win the points.”
