Liam, 29, vanished on February 10 while on a stag weekend in Hamburg that he had organised for his brother Eamonn, a police officer in Dundee.

His family have been travelling to and from the German city on rotation to assist in the search, with a GoFundMe page so far raising almost £10,000 .

Now Liam’s cousin Leanne Maillie, who lives in Dundee’s West End, is organising a collection for more funds at United’s home game against Queen of the South.

Leanne, 28, told the Tele: “The search is very much still ongoing. We very much think he’s still out there.

“We’re holding a collection to raise money for the GoFundMe.

“We’ve been out to Hamburg already and there are a lot of family members who have been going out. We’ve had a great response and there will be about 12 of us out at Tannadice doing what we can to raise the money.”

Leanne said the people of Dundee had “really come out to help us”.

She said: “There’s been a huge effort here.

“We’ve got lots of people taking care of the messages and monitoring social media.”

Tomorrow’s fundraiser comes after United manager Csaba Laszlo made a fresh video appeal for Liam to get in touch with his family.

Club captain Willo Flood made a similar appeal soon after Liam went missing.
