The event will include a presentation by SDS career advisers, talks from employers about job opportunities, mock interview experience with the employers and the opportunity to meet young people who are currently in apprenticeships.
It will give young people and t heir parents t he chance to find out about the three different types of apprenticeships available — modern apprenticeships which are “work as you learn”, graduate apprenticeships for employees to gain their degree whilst on the job and Foundation apprenticeships for 5th and 6th year pupils which take two years and allow them to combine a work placement with their education.
SDS team leader RoseMarie Stewart said: “Apprenticeships are a fantastic opportunity for young people to gain valuable work-based learning, to develop skills for their career journey.
“We know many pupils will be coming along, but would also like to welcome anyone who is interested in apprenticeships, including parents and carers.”
