Bell tolls win for Pansies in Fife

IN the North League,Violet made up for last week’s disappoint­ing result at Kinnoull with a hard-fought 2-0 win at Lochore.

Ross Bell gave the Pansies a half-time lead and Gavin Thomson netted the second.

The Pansies handed a second-half debut to new signing Kamil Kadela from Tayport.

A fine second-half performanc­e from East Craigie saw them pick up the points with a 3-1 win over Scone.

Ben Moffat gave Scone Thistle the lead but Nik Mann equalised for the Shipbuilde­rs after 18 minutes.

With home side having the better of the second half, they scored through Sean Reekie and Findlay Baird.

Coupar Angus ran out 5-2 winners at home to Forfar Albion. Goals from Alan Leith, Lee Maloney and Joe Sturrock saw the Foxhall Park hosts surge into a three-goal lead.

George Masterson pulled one back for Albion a couple of minutes before the break.

However, Arron Fraser extended the hosts’ lead in the 73rd minute before Ross Davidson scored another for Albion. Stuart Banks added a fifth for Coupar from a last-minute penalty.

The only goal of the game saw Arbroath Vics edged out at home by Newburgh. Mark Perrie cracked home a Stefan Fortune cross from 12 yards for the visitors’ winner.

Jeanfield Swifts, Kinnoull and Blairgowri­e’s home games were all postponed due to frozen pitches.
