We should have won by lot more

-

ST JOHNSTONE boss Tommy Wright praised his team and their fans after they emerged as 2-0 home victors against Ross County.

Two first-half Murray Davidson goals were enough to guarantee the Perth club victory.

“I was pleased,” Tommy said. “It was a good performance and the crowd got behind the team well.

“Steven Anderson and Jason Kerr were solid at the back and Steven MacLean worked his socks off. We like to defend from the front and Steven helped us do that.

“We had a lot of good performances and played extremely well.”

Although delighted to score twice, Tommy felt his team should have added to that tally.

“If I was to nitpick I would say we should have won by more than 2-0.

“However, we won and got a clean sheet to add to the clean sheet we got against Celtic at Parkhead a week past Sunday.

“The Ross County win takes us to five points behind Motherwell with two games in hand.

“I am happy with the day’s work against County and remain positive for the rest of the season.

“We scored the first goal and, too many times at home, we have conceded the first goal.”

Saints have now turned their attention to tomorrow night’s home game against Rangers.

George Williams didn’t make the starting line-up against Ross County. He had been struggling with an injury but Tommy states the on-loan Fulham winger is “OK” and in the squad to face the men from Ibrox.

Matty Willock, on l oan from Manchester United, missed the Ross County game due to sickness but is in the pool for the Rangers game.
