McMullan keeps GM in touch

-

GROVE Menzieshill hockey women had a 1-0 win over Grange EL which still keeps them in touch with Edinburgh University. Jude McMullan netted.

The University still lead the way in Division One with a 2-1 win over Watsonians.

In the Midlands League, Perthshire III had a 7-0 win over Dundee University IV.

Their seven goals were scored by Florrie Mitchell (3), Melissa Mitchell (2) and Rachael Stewart (2).

Grove III scored four without reply against Monarchs, Jojo Johnston scoring all four goals.

Grove III had also beaten St Andrews University V 5-0, Jojo being top scorer with three while Isla Simpson and Abbie Chapman also chipped in.

Dundee Wanderers have to make a swift adjustment from their European Indoor Cup to the outdoor game.

That should not be too difficult at home but more testing in that their opponents are Western Wildcats, who recorded a narrow win over GHK last weekend.

Grove Menzieshill will be all out to maintain pressure on Edinburgh University at the top of the First Division.

Grove are away to Kelburne where a good victory should be no problem.

Perhaps Watsonians at DISC will be closer but Grove can’t afford anything other than a convincing win to remain in touch with the leaders.

Hamburg won the Euro Indoor Club Cup at DISC with a 6-2 victory over Club Campo de Madrid.

Hamburg scored in the first and sixth minutes.

They added two more before half-time and seldom lost control.

Madrid imposed their style of play later in the first half but were thwarted in front of goal except for one goal four minutes before half-time.

Play was more evenly split in the second half but the German side played with greater authority.

The teams then scored a goal apiece before Hamburg added their sixth for a 6-2 victory.

Dundee Wanderers lost 8-2 to Club Campo de Madrid, 1-0 to Arminen and 4-0 to Hamburg.

In the relegation pool, Wanderers lost 6-2 to Ritm Grodno and 6-0 to Wettingen. So they are relegated with Arminen.
