Dundee skaters head to Ayrshire

-

THIS week, 47 Dundee Figure Skating Club members head to their first competition of 2018, the Magnum Open in Ardrossan, Ayrshire.

The annual event, which begins on Thursday and ends on Sunday, brings together skaters from all across the United Kingdom who compete from beginner level to senior.

Skaters will compete in every level category from beginner sevenyears-and-under to senior ladies and senior men.

They will each be looking to secure personal best scores and bring home medals and trophies as well as gaining valuable competition experience.

For many, this will be their very first competition away from home.

Dundee’s Team GB Olympic coach Simon Briggs said: “Our skaters have all been working very hard for this event.

“For many, this will be their first time competing away from their home rink in Dundee.

“We know they will come away with the valuable experience they will be able to learn from.

“For others, it will be another opportunity to get out there and compete, try new skills and new programmes and continue to build on their scores as they head through the year.

“We wish all 47 skaters the very best of luck this week.

“We know how hard they work and we will support them to get the very best results they can and have a great competition.
