Fraser return to boost Utd promotion bid

- BY GEORGE CRAN

GOOD news at l ast for Dundee United as they expect playmaker Scott Fraser’s return to boost their promotion charge.

Fraser has been out since the end of December after limping out of the 2-0 loss at St Mirren with another issue with his broken foot and the Tangerines’ form has plummeted during that time.

Combined with the injury to fellow central midfielder Fraser Fyvie, United’s engine-room lost its ability to control games and, consequently, began losing points.

However, Fraser is now just two or three weeks away from a return to first-team training and manager Csaba Laszlo is delighted to see the improvements shown by the mercurial talent.

Csaba said: “Scott Fraser is in training, not with the team at the moment but on his own individual training.

“It is good to see a player put his boots back on and feel like a football player again.

“That is very nice to see him going in the right direction.

“We hope in maybe two or three weeks he can be involved with the team, which would make us stronger.”

With game postponements racking up with last week’s snow adding to United’s already-busy fixture list, Csaba says he’ll need every body at his disposal if the club are going to get themselves to the play-offs.

Starting tomorrow night at home to Queen of the South, the Tangerines have 13 games left before the end of the campaign.

Should they get to the play-offs, a journey to the final would then add another six matches.

That means March will be a very busy month for the club with seven games already scheduled and having the postponed home match against St Mirren added in is a possibility.

That volume of matches puts the pressure on the club’s fitness staff to keep the players fit and firing, something Csaba is aware of himself.

“With 13 games to go, we have to make sure everybody is training and prepared,” he added.

“We have to concentrate on the job
