Midfield shake up for Dens men
DUNDEE boss Neil McCann is set to shake up his midfield tomorrow against St Johnstone with key men Glen Kamara and Paul McGowan missing.
Both have one-game suspensions to serve with Kamara having picked up too many bookings, while McGowan was shown a red card after the final whistle in the Dark Blues’ last game against Motherwell.
Those two, along with Mark O’Hara, have been a mainstay in the middle of the park for the Dens gaffer.
Tomorrow will be the first league match Kamara has missed all season, while McGowan is one of Neil’s first picks.
That, though, leaves the door open for Lewis Spence to make his first start since November.
He’s likely to take up a more defensive role in the middle of the park, while McGowan’s absence might leave a space for A-Jay Leitch-Smith further up the pitch to come in from the start after a run on the bench.
Faissal El Bakhtaoui is another option to use in the playmaker role behind Sofien Moussa.
A lack of stand-out central midfielders in reserve, though, might see the manager change formation.
Jesse Curran has been in and around the first team lately and came on in the win over Partick Thistle on the right flank.
A 4-4-2 set-up with Curran on the right and Roarie Deacon on the left is possible with Moussa and Simon Murray up front.
It’s a problem for the Dens gaffer and one he probably doesn’t want for one of the biggest games of the season.
Tomorrow is a test for Neil to ensure his side can still come away with a positive result despite being without two of his most influential players.
