Have your say on cash plans

-

IT’S not often that members of the public get to have a direct influence on how their money is spent.

But the Dundee Decides initiative is offering the chance to do exactly that to people across the city (see pages 12&13).

It’s important that folk are well-informed about how the cash will be spent — and that’s why we’ve chosen to take an in-depth look at what people can vote for in each ward.

Although the big decisions about people’s wellbeing are still made by those who occupy roles at City Chambers, this vote is a significant opportunity for people to have an influence on what happens in their local community.

And it’s important as many people as possible take part — to ensure public opinion is accurately represented through each individual poll.

The council deserves credit for letting locals have their say in this way — and perhaps it could lead to other decisions being handed over to the people, rather than the politicians.
