Hilltown score eight against DC
MEMORIAL Cup favourites and league leaders Hilltown Hotspurs made light work of DC Athletic.
A 7-0 half-time lead allowed Dale Kelly to make five interval substitutions.
To be fair to DC, they drew the second half losing 8-1.
Hilltown play Cairdy Thistle following Cairdy’s dramatic 4-3 penalty win over FC Boukir with the teams tied at the end of regulation play.
There was penalty drama in the all-Premier clash between Fintry Athletic SC and Park Tool, the two tied at 3-3 in regulation time.
Park Tool held their nerve in the spot-kicks to progress. They now play FC Kettledrum, who had a bye following a call-off by Boars Rock.
DK Raiders put poor league form behind them to see off Stobswell 4-2 in a surprise result, though they will have it all to do to repeat that upset this weekend against the undefeated St James Athletic.
Ferry Mechanics made short work of seeing off lower league opponents Sidlaw Albion following a 9-1 win that earns them a tie against Cleppy Social, who came through 5-2 against Kelso.
Dryburgh CC put six past Clark’s FC without reply to give them a plum tie against Second Division outfit Charlie’s Accies this weekend.
Dundee City earned a tie against Hawkhill this weekend after a 5-2 win over First Division outfit The Beat. Hawkie came through by the same score against Occidental.
DUSC will face off against Doc’s Hibernia after a battling 2-0 win against Fife Thistle.
Teams are reminded next weekend will see the Memorial Cup quarterfinals contested with remaining clubs back in league action.
