British Government had full knowledge of worth

-

YOUR correspondent BR,190ilman82 claims the British Government didn’t know the worth of oil wealth in the North Sea, type “McCrone report” into Google and you will find a banned documentary that shows the complete opposite.

They knew exactly and the findings were stamped “classified” and hidden from Scotland.

As for oil running out, I have been hearing that since our vote on devolution back in 1979, most experts believe anything from 50-100 years of oil still remains for extracting.

Seems rather silly to leave what’s left with the same parliament that has squandered the first 40 years.

When he claims the oil wealth was spread around the British Isles will that be the £2 trillion debt costing us £1bn a week in interest sort of wealth?

As for Shetland wanting independence because Scotland becomes independent, this seems a little desperate — they might or might not, but they wouldn’t get control over any oilfields if they did.

International law is very clear and would dictate the Northern Isles (in this situation) would be treated as a UK enclave within Scottish territory and would control no more than the seabed between the shore and a point 12 nautical miles out from the shore.

The precedent for this was set by the UK Government itself when it agreed on territorial boundaries between French waters and the Channel Islands.
