ST JOHNSTONE Women’s duo Leah Fleming and Rebecca McGowan have been called into the Scotland U/17 squad for Elite qualifiers in France.

They play France, Sweden and Finland between Monday and the 29th of this month.

Saints Women enjoyed a 3-1 home victory over Hearts.

This sees them move up to third in the Scottish Women’s League Two.

The Perth girls showed their intent early on with Ellie May Cowie and Rachel Todd both looking lively.

Hearts keeper Ashley Watson had to make some good saves in the first 10 minutes.

Despite the early pressure from the home side, it was Hearts who took the lead after 17 minutes.

Saints couldn’t clear the ball and Jennifer Smith stepped in to fire the visitors into the lead.

The home side continued to look lively, with Rebecca McGowan and Todd doing well to support Cowie.

Seven minutes before half-time a sublime Laura Dunn free-kick from 25 yards made it 1-1.

The second half saw Saints continue to press and, just after the hour mark, they scored through Hannah Clark.

The 16-year-old striker did well to hold off two defenders to turn at the corner of the 18-yard box and dispatch a great strike into the far corner.

A Hearts effort then hit the bar and Saints’ central defensive pairing of Amy Henderson and Jen Rogers worked well to stifle the visitors.

Eilidh McIntyre was introduced as Saints went two up front.

Clark hit the post with a header, Rebecca Foote went agonisingly close with a fantastic volley and Rachel Todd forced a great save from Watson.

The third goal came in the 93rd minute when a ball from Todd took a deflection off a Hearts player on its way to McIntyre, who added to the total.
