Lucinda is hoping for Perth success

- BY JAMES MASSON

MILNATHORT-BASED trainer Lucinda Russell feels she will have a nice team of summer racehorses — and she’s hoping for Perth success.

She said: “The Compellor was second at Musselburgh and Urban Kode fourth there. They will be busy over two and two-and-a-half miles at Perth and they limbered up nicely.

“Alizee De Janeiro was also fourth at Musselburgh having had a rough passage, and she may have a go back over fences this spring.

“The Road Home was third and will likely save his chasing debut for the autumn. Before then, there should be a novice handicap hurdle for him.

“Misfits was fourth and, like Celtic Flames, has got his confidence over the Musselburgh fences. He should have chase chances at Perth and Hexham.”

Big River, for who Lucinda has high hopes, was second at Uttoxeter on Saturday.

Lucinda said: “Big River has got his jumping together and showed tenacity and confidence. He has a few options open in the coming months.”

THERE will be no National Hunt racing in Britain until tomorrow at the earliest after the weekend cold snap caused havoc with the fixture list.

The meetings yesterday at Carlisle and Ffos Las were abandoned because of snow, while today’s cards at Kelso and Southwell went the same way.

Southwell abandoned as the track is covered by four inches of snow. Kelso is also snowbound and called off its fixture following an inspection.

A statement from the Scottish Borders course read: “Snow and temperatures remaining around zero degrees and further snow forecast.”
