- BY ADAM HILL AND JON BRADY

SHOCKED onlookers watched paramedics come to the aid of an unconscious woman in the city centre.

The woman was found unresponsive on a bench at the Howff Cemetery around 1pm on Tuesday.

An ambulance crew attended the scene and two paramedics were seen making attempts to revive the woman as she lay prone in the graveyard.

Eyewitnesses told of seeing them “bring her back to life” as a crowd of people began to gather in the background.

One eyewitness, who asked not to be named, said he had seen the woman lying unconscious on the bench prior to paramedics arriving at the scene.

He said: “I was coming around the corner and I saw my mate so I went across to speak to him.

“That’s when I saw the girl. She was just lying there on the bench. She wasn’t moving at all.

“The ambulance came and the crew were trying to bring her back to life.”

The eyewitness said he hoped the woman was able to recover from the incident.

Another witness said: “The woman was lying there with a man over her. He looked very concerned.

“She was unconscious and he was trying to speak to her. She wasn’t moving a muscle.

“He shouted that he was waiting for an ambulance to come. The ambulance came a short time later and the two paramedics were straight across to her and working to revive her.

“There was nothing and then suddenly she let out a scream. It was a really scary thing to watch.

“It was the middle of the day. It was a big shock to see. I hope the woman is OK.

“It didn’t look good to begin with and still didn’t look that good when they brought her back.

“She was taken away in the ambulance and the man who was there went with her. He had to run back for his backpack.”

A spokesman from the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 1.06pm on Tuesday to attend an incident in Meadowside.

“We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and one female patient in her twenties was transported to Ninewells Hospital.”
