Mohsni signing gets clearance

-

DUNDEE United have finally received clearance to confirm t he signing of centre-back Bilel Mohsni.

Manager Csaba Laszlo said last Monday the Tangerines were going to add the Tu n i s i a n international to the squad but have been forced to wait for international clearance.

A former player under Paul Sturrock at Southend, Mohsni was recommended to Csaba by the club legend in his new role as chief scout in England.

Csaba said:“Bilel can add aggression to our team. He will win headers in both boxes.

“It’s been frustrating having to wait for clearance but I am happy it is now all clear.”

The French-born 30-yearold comes into the squad for Saturday’s home game against Dunfermline.

He said:“I am delighted to be back in Scottish football.

“I played under Paul Sturrock down south and he was always talking about this club to me. I know all about Dundee United.

“Once the manager made the call, I knew I wanted to come to Tannadice and I want to help United win as many games as possible and achieve our goal of promotion.”

Mohsni’s previous stint in Scottish football ended in infamy as he was slapped with an seven-game ban for fighting with Motherwell players after Rang ers’ play-off defeat at Fir Park.

He soon left Ibrox and served that ban in France.

Boss Csaba is hoping his new centre-back can improve his side’s fortunes after a poor 3-2 defeat to Queen of t he South i n midweek.

He added: “At the moment, honestly, we said we can’t catch St Mirren but it’s not normal you have four shots against — one hit the crossbar and three goals.

“This is not to blame the goalkeeper because you can’t — what can he do?”
