Thieves strike at roadworks

AN investigat­ion has been launched after thieves stole equipment from a set of roadworks.

A Po l i c e S c o t l a n d spokesman said the theft happened sometime between 12.30pm-1pm on Wednesday at a set of roadworks at the Kirkton of Tealing crossroads, which involve the Tealing to Auchterhou­se Road and its j unction with Emmock Road.

An appeal has been made f or anyone who witnessed the i ncident or knows anything about the theft to come forward.

A breaker attachment has been removed and stolen from an excavator which was parked at the site.

A police spokesman explained the excavator is a very large and heavy item.

It would have needed at least two people to move it, and a van or truck of some kind to transport it away.

The spokesman said: “It may be the case that any people who were passing at the time would have thought those committing the theft were actually working at the site.

‘‘They may not have realised what was actually happening.”

He added: “If you have any i nformation which could assist our investigat­ion, please call 101 or speak with any police officer.
