Limited edition £125 trainers causing a stir at Size? outlet
Tomorrow, the much-anticipated Nike Air Max 1/97 SWs go on sale after a year-long marketing campaign.
Among the first in the queue in the hope of getting his hands on a pair is 18-year-old Connor Curran.
The student from Craigiebank has been camping out by the Size? store on High Street since Wednesday afternoon. He said: “Myself and my dad both collect trainers and we regularly camp out for the launch of limited edition pairs.
“We are taking shifts sitting here. I think we have more than 70 pairs combined in our collections.
“This is the first time I have camped out for so long though — we just really don’t want to miss them. I only go for trainers that I really like. I have been desperate for these trainers since they started being marketed about a year ago.”
Chris Brash, supervisor at Size?, said while people do camp out for launches, they don’t normally get there so early.
He said: “It’s a bit mental. These trainers are very limited especially for the number of people who want them. The phone has been going non-stop.
“I don’t think there will ever be a launch this big again. I believe that Connor is the first person in Britain to be queuing for the shoes at a Size? store, which is crazy.
“I personally wouldn’t be out camping for a pair of trainers, but everyone has their own passion.”
The shoes will be on sale from 8am tomorrow with a retail price of £125.
The striking design was created for a Nike competition by well-known American vintage shoes and apparel collector Sean Wotherspoon. Ourvoice
